Hi Irene,

We saw it! I am visiting a friend in Chicago, and it is a very clear night here and we are right on Lake Michigan. It was beautiful. So opaque, like a thin sheet of chocolate-orange colored japanese paper. It looked so 3-dimensional. My husband called and left a message on my phone, describing it (astronomy binoculars). That was beautiful, too. I wondered what the deer and geese were thinking.

So how was it over there?

Lucky you !

A moon eclipse is great, because you can really look at it properly and with binoculars it must have been really clear.

BUT - I'm ashamed to say I didn't set my alarm. :-(

I did leave the window in my bedroom uncovered which can I see the moon from. I thought if the eclipse wakens me (or the dogs) then great but if I don't waken then my body really needs the sleep.

I must have slept like a log...

Sleep is good!

This was supposed to be a once-in-a-millenium eclipse because of Saturn and another star or something. (?) Usually I sleep through them. Anyway, I photographed it; if the pictures are decent, I'll post one and will let you know.
