Opened the chickens early this morning

The sun was streaming on to the garden and everything was covered with dew - it was just beautiful. This black Marans chicken looked amazing with her red comb glowing in the sun and that long shadow.

No doubt she was waiting to see if I'd brought anything tasty for her.

What a great photo, I love the shadow. So did you give her something tasty? How many eggs do you get per day?

I love your blog. It's one of the authentic ones and I always smile at your photos. Thanks for sharing your life.

Thanks Rhonda Jean, I get about five eggs at the moment but we have a lot of hens with chicks.

She didn't get anything I'm afraid, the pig park is just next to the house and the piglets are so pleased to see you when you've got something to eat and that helps with their training to come when you call them...

I'm having computer problems - my little laptop's memory is just not up to the stuff I want to do but I'll get back to you soon.

That is just gorgeous and I am so glad that I persevered with the time it took to open your post. We are on dial up atm so everything takes forever to download.

I know that feeling, I have to wait for ages between tasks.

My nails have never been better manicured and I've even taking to knitting while I wait ! :-)

oh wow love this image.... yes the light this time of year is so dramatic especially with morning mist and fogs and dew on all the leaves.... i cannot get enough as i know how soon it will change....

oh computer issues are the worst... i ended up getting an external hard drive for all my photos... (just a maxor plug and play type) .... (it FEELS safer) !!! and it free's up a lot of computer space for processing tasks... have a great week!

What a beautiful picture. I have just stumbled across your blog and think it is wonderful. You are living just the kind of life I am striving to live (abeit in a city)and hope to live properly one day (when I have saved enough to buy my own rural retreat). Thank you for sharing your rich life with us and your amazing pictures. Its inspiring to know it can be done. In the meantime I will continue to dream :-) and work at being self-sufficient-ish in the urban jungle!

Blessed be

What a beautiful photo of your chicken! We had a disaster here yesterday. Somehow the door to my chicken coop came unlocked, the chickens escaped and our very naughty dog killed 12 of them. I'm now down to 8 and am heartbroken! Alas, the adventures of simple living! I love your blog!

Thanks for your comments about the photo - I was really pleased to have had the chance to take it.

I like having a little camera that I can take everywhere with me.
