Au revoir Judy - Bourrou May 2010

Our little wire-haired Dachsund Judy was in perfect health on Monday.

In the early evening we found her in a coma behind the house. Her gums were white and her limbs in spasm and I rushed her to the nearest vet. He said that she'd eaten rat poison. Neither us nor our neighbours use rat poison. She died without regaining consciousness.

We are devastated.

Oh I'm so sorry, it's been 6 years since we last lost a dog and it took me a long time to stop crying over her. Our laborador is now 11 and starting to slow down; I'm dreading feeling the pain of loss again. My thoughts are with you.

I to am a big fan of your wonderful blog.
My though's are with you at this sad time at the loss of your close friend.
I think I tend to take our Springer for granted at times, even thought she is never far from my side, so your post has reminded me to give her an extra special hug when i see her tomorrow, as I have been away all week, and there she will be wagging her tail when I arrive home.

No one can replace your Judy, but also no one could ever take away the most wonderful memories you have etched in your mind and heart forever.

So sorry about Judy. She was a treasure. And as far as how she could have gotten the poison..
A far traveling rodent that ate the poison, an animal that had eaten a rodent that had eaten poison or a poisoned rodent that was dropped by a raptor.
The poison does not go away until the cycle is broken. I am so very sorry.

I've been inspired by your blog for so long now without commenting.....
I'm so sorry for your little friend and sorrier still that for all your very hard work, you are still harmed by the bad decisions of others.

I hope that you and Fabrice are able to take some heart from all the people round the world who are moved by Judy's plight and sending you love and wishes.

What an absolute tragedy. Our dogs give us far more than we give them. Am dreading the day when my two go.

My heart goes out to you both. What a tragedy. I agree with Tommo, our dogs do give us so much, unconditionally. May the memories you shared with Judy remain close to your hearts. May she rest in peace in your beautifull haven.

Thank you so much all of you for your kind thoughts.

It's really moving to think that so many people all over the world read our blog and care about what's going on in our lives.

We think that someone was sick enough to put poison down for our dogs. The police say there's not much we can do without proof. We'll just have to be vigilant and not let this scare us into paranoia.

I am so sorry for your loss. How horrible. I would be devastated if that happened to one of my dogs, and can only imagine the grief you are feeling. Dogs maneuver their way into our heart and soul, and become part of us and our family. I am sure she will be very missed. So very sorry for your loss.

Pleae allow me to express my belated thoughts and condolences to you. All of us doggy gardeners out here feel your loss.

I just started reading your blog, and was so upset about Judy that I had to comment. The picture you put up of her is lovely. So very sorry for your loss, and that you had to find your beloved little girl this way. Don't know why people feel the need to use rat poison. I've heard of other animals that have been poisoned, both accidental and deliberate. The stuff should be illegal.

All of the very best to you and your family. May you remember the good times with Judy, and may your pain at her loss lessen quickly with time. HUGS.
